So I was looking at all my RSS feeds, wondering "Why the hell don't the people I stalk post stuff?" And then I thought, "Well, I never post stuff, do I?"
Probably no one is stalking me (I'm pretty dull). Probably no one who used to read this still reads it. But I have a big plan--big as far as my life in blogland goes--that I'm planning to enact here soon. Once that happens, maybe I'll advertise my bloggerliness and reattract my two or three former readers.
If you are reading this, how goes it?

Halfway
As of today's run, I am halfway through my jogging program. There are six phases to complete, each phase is four weeks long, and today, I completed the third phase. In a perfect little exerciser's world, that would mean I've been at this for twelve weeks, but I think it's more like fourteen or fifteen weeks. I had some weeks with only two runs instead of the requisite three, and one week I think I skipped exercise altogether.
I can feel exercise slowly becoming a habit. It is part of my day a little bit over half the time now, but I wouldn't say it feels totally ingrained yet. Although I'm cranky when I don't exercise, and I feel like something is missing from my day, it would still at this point be far too easy to lapse a week...or two...or more. I'm not quite "a runner" yet.
Except that's not exactly true. I am a runner. I run. Regularly. Slowly, very slowly, but regularly nonetheless. And I think that if I don't stop, this will become a habit.
I wonder how long it will be before I feel like I'm in shape? I feel more in shape now than I did when I wasn't jogging, but I don't feel like I'm in optimal shape. I think that that may only come when I'm closer to an ideal weight--or even closer to my ideal weight range. Maybe I'll feel "in shape" when I'm running thirty minutes at a stretch.
I've made progress these last three months. When I started, I could only run a few minutes at a time. Now I can run 10 minutes easily, and can keep going if I want to. I can finish my whole jogging interval (currently 18 out of 30 minutes) without taking a walking break. Sometimes I run intervals for an hour, or even an hour and a half. I recognize and enjoy endorphins. My resting heart rate is lower, and I'm better able to keep my heart rate under control during exertion. Sort of, anyway. All good things.
I feel like I really can finish this program, "become" a jogger, run for thirty minutes without stopping. Yes. I do.

It...Rained All Day...
Writing every day is hard. Especially when there's so much Law & Order on the TiVo. And when you live a boring life.
Mmmm....Law & Order....
I promise to try to harder to think of good subjects when I'm less tired.

98...99...100!
This is my hundredth post on this blog. It's a momentous occasion.
Unfortunately, I have nothing momentous to say. I think that I had a really good idea for a blog, but I forgot what it was. This sort of thing happens to me more than I really like to talk about. I swear I figured out exactly what to do with my life one time, but I didn't write it down and now it's lost forever.
I also keep leaving the oven on, and a few weeks back my mom came into the house and asked, "Why is your car running?" Good question. I'd been home for about two and a half hours. Just completely forgot to turn the car off. The door was locked, so I remembered that part of the whole process, but removing the keys after killing the engine is a crucial step, and I had neglected it. Oops. To Waldo's credit (thank you, Honda!), my gas mileage wasn't noticeably affected.
What was I saying again?

Yellow Leaves, Orange Leaves, Red Leaves and Gold Leaves
Thanksgiving is in less than three weeks. Where did my year go?
Weather-wise, today was the perfect fall day. The high can't have been over 65, and I'm not even sure it got that warm. When I went out at 3 to exercise, it felt pretty chilly until I started jogging. For the better part of my warm-up, I thought I'd worn too little clothing. Contrast this with yesterday, when I went out at 5 and found myself wondering whether or not it would be really inappropriate to run without pants. What a difference 10 degrees makes; it wasn't really hot yesterday or cold today, but I certainly felt the temperature both days.
After I warmed up today, the temperature was perfect for jogging. It's also perfect crockpot weather, and I adore the crockpot. I like unceremoniously dumping a bunch of stuff in a pot and having a meal come out. I also like that crockpot cooking makes good use of the fat on the (lean) meats we eat. I hate to see or, ick-ick-ick, chew fat, but a little bit adds a lot of flavor. The crockpot disperses the flavor nicely while creating a situation in which I don't much have to think about what I'm eating. It doesn't bother Thomas at all, and we've had several discussions about why it isn't okay to say words like "tendon" or "sinew" while I'm eating steak.

Well, these diamonds on my windshield...
I'm all thought out after the last few days of election excitement, so I've adopted Meem's Meme for today's post. Here are the rules:
Step 1: Put your music player on random.
Step 2: Post the first line (or so, some are hard) from the first 21 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what SONG AND ARTIST the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly
(No lyric hunting! That is cheating!)
Step 5: After doing the 1st 21, listen to one more random song and post it as your title.
1. I can't throw away my fears up into the atmosphere
2. All the way back home I'm telling you I caught the sun
3. Feel like an old railroad man
4. I feel good, it's a fine day/The way the sun hits off the runway
5. Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy
6. You cleaned out your room and under your bed
7. Check this strange beverage fall out from the sky
8. Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth
9. I hear the train a comin', it's rollin' round the bend
10. You might have seen one out in Minnesota
11. Things are falling down on me
12. If I fall along the way/Pick me up and dust me off
13. I told you 'bout Strawberry Fields
14. The internet is really, really great
15. I am a bus driver, and it's four in the morning
16. No tongue in the bell and the fishwives yell
17. For to see my depth of sorrow
18. They didn't have you where I come from
19. There's no charity in you, and that surprises me
20. Don't wish, don't start
21. A million to one outsiders
I have conflicting thoughts when I put the Ipod on shuffle. Sometimes I think, "Wow, I should go through and listen to random music more often." Sometimes, it's more like: "Where did this crap come from?" I cheated a little bit, sort of, and made sure to find songs that I was familiar enough with to know if people are right when they guess, and I had to also make sure the song had lyrics.
This kind of meme may not work great for me; it really helps if lots of folks read the blog. I may need to advertise or something, get my reader participation up.
